Border posts to be equipped with advanced monitoring systems

TEHRAN, April 26 (MNA) – The Iranian border police plans to replace the cameras installed at the border posts with the most advanced ones produced locally, announces border police chief.

“The new generation of cameras which are being manufactured in the country are of high quality, and the old cameras should be replaced with these cameras,” Brigadier General Hossein Zolfaqari told ISNA on Tuesday.

Zolfaqari also said police plans to deploy long-range radars along the borders and complete the network of radars along coastlines.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he said new vessels will join the coastguard fleet by the end of the current Iranian calendar year which started on March 21.

On the plan to equip the border guards with stun guns, the border police chief said the domestically designed stun guns were tested, and several flaws were identified in them.

The defects were reported to the manufacturer to be corrected, he added.
